Maybe we should stop wishing on shooting stars,
birthday candles,
and dandelions
to bring our muttered words to life

For eighteen years later,
we still close our eyes;
whispering words of yearning at a golden object,
demolishing a crimson flame,
and emitting white specks into the lucent air

But maybe we shouldn't
For these wishes we make for countless years
Serve as reminders:
That no one in life has everything,
But at least we have something

Even if it's just an intangible sentence
muttered under our ardent breath
What do wishes actually prove?

I really do think I'm actually in love with you and that eloquent mind of yours.

Lovely poem
I can see that you're the type who writes about both facts and emotions from human nature. I like that.

I think the act of making or stating a wish helps give more concrete form to something that would be otherwise a vague interest or desire.
At the same time, though, only wishing and not doing much more about it won't bring about much.

But sometimes, even having the courage and hope to wish for something can be invaluable.
(For a while, I stopped making wishes because I was afraid of wishing for something that wasn't possible, and then being disappointed when it didn't come true.)

I like how you were able to capture both sides of the wish - how it is, in a sense, somewhat impractical, and yet is still something incredibly important at times.

Wonderful poem!
I feel wishes are soul's aspirations, the goals that one aspires to reach, with the hope of one day to reach them...
